Wien: Verband Österreichischer KZ-ler und sonst Politisch Verfolgter, 1948. Original document. Cards. 24mo. 4pp. Original stiff gray wraps with black lettering on cover, protected by modern mylar. Membership card for Irma Dembowski for the Association of Austrian Concentration Camp Survivors and Politically Persecuted, Vienna. "The card is valid only in combination with an ID Card "(not here present), and "temporary until the issue of a nationwide membership card." The card contains the address of Irma Dembowski, her birth date, marital status, her profession and an annotation stating the duration of her internment at Theresienstadt form October 2, 1942 to May 9, 1945. The membership card is stamped with the official stamp of the association, in red, and signed twice by an official. The last page with printed address of the association and three stamps verifying the payment of membership dues for the first and second half of 1948, and the first half of 1949.

The Verband Österreichischer KZ-ler und sonst Politisch Verfolgter was establish in early 1948. It was the successor of the Bund der politisch Verfolgten (Association of the Politically Persecuted) and starting in October 1948 its publication "Der Neue Mahnruf (The New Exhortation)" was issued on a monthly basis. The origins of the organization and its publications can be traced back to 1927, then starting as the organ of an association with communist orientation, changing names for the association and its publications over the years. The initial publication was called "Der Arbeitslose (The unemployed)" and was published starting in February of 1927, with the clear intent of communist agitation. vg. Item #45715
