London: Routledge & Kegan Paul, 1969. Reprint. Hardcover. Octavo. (xii), 254 pp. Original orange illustrated dust jacket with black and lettering on front cover and spine. Orange cloth boards, gilt lettering and publisher's device on the spine.
In 1843 the author went to seek two British officers, Lieutenant Colonel Charles Stoddart and Captain Arthur Conolly who had been executed by the Emir of Bukhara, Nasrullah Khan in 1842. Wolff later described that he had narrowly escaped death himself on account of the Emir laughing uncontrollably at Wolff's appearance in full canonical garb. A fascinating account.
