The work is an informative and engaging behind the scenes look at the business and film production process of the famous MGM studios. All manner of subjects and aspects related to the movie business are explored, from business contracts and international distribution to screenwriting, filming, directing, actors, makeup, and editing. The publication includes 15 b/w photographic reproductions throughout showing various aspects of the process from page to screen, and includes shots of the MGM backlot, cast and crew working, film executives and awards ceremonies. Influential Hollywood figures and stars such as Irving Thalberg, Ernst Lubitsch, Jeanette MacDonald, Wallace Beery, Louis B. Mayer, Lionel Barrymore and Maurice Chevalier among others, are shown.
