This is copy #90 from a total edition of 1500 hand-numbered and signed by Gregory Colbert. The images in this edition are larger than in all other printed versions as well as being specially printed in a 9 color process in contrast to the other editions that used a 4 color process.
This publication is the deluxe and handcrafted edition, displaying 50 astonishing images from photographer and filmmaker Gregory Colbert's groundbreaking and globe-spaning exhibition "Ashes and Snow", which first premiered in New York in 2002. Each of the sepia-toning photographic images have been printed utilizing a special nine-color technique with transparent varnish. Spanning the years 1992-2005, Colbert's images from this extraordinary show, are a meditation on the relationships between humans and nature, and according the photographer, explore "the shared language and poetic sensibilities of all animals, I am working towards rediscovering the common ground that once existed when people saw themselves as part of nature and not outside of it." This awe-inspiring show has traveled the world in the "nomadic museum" in the years since.
