Börne received his PhD with his dissertation on "the geometrical distribution of state territory" and was constituted as grand duchy in Frankfurt, a post he had to resign from due to his Jewish ethnicity. Börne moved to Paris after the 1830 July Revolution. His "Letters from Paris" were considered a landmark in the history of journalism and subsequently he was considered to be a leading German thinker. Börne was one of the leading figures of the Young Germany movement that included writers like Heinrich Heine, Karl Gutzkow, Georg Büchner, and others. Text in German, Gothic script.
