Collection of twenty two albumen prints in various sizes () pasted down to stiff heavy paper plates with captions, accompanied by a plate with table of content. The table contains some handwritten additions, including two plates showing Crown Prince Frederick, and Prinz Wilhelm, added as numbers 21 and 23 in handwriting with titles to the printed table of content. Both photographs with facsimile signatures underneath the albumen prints. Plate one, showing Emperor Wilhelm on horseback, also with facsimile signature. All other prints with elaborate captions.
Published by the Court Photographer and Art Publisher for Military, Sports and Agriculture, this collection of albumen prints after paintings from H. Schnaebeli depicts various Royal hunting scenes, army horse races, ceremonies with quadrilles, gymkhanas, gatherings of officers, horse regiments and cavalleria between the years of 1872 and 1881. The albumen prints, sizes 7 3/4 x 13 3/4" for Royalty and app. 8 1/4 x 13 3/4" for all other prints, are pasted to heavy paper plates with printed captions underneath. The captions for horse races name all participants in the respective races. Text in German.
Binding with some wear along edges of portfolio, cracking along top hinge but still holding firm, chip at lower left corner and rubbed. All plates are wavy with very light wear along edges and age-toned along edges. Plate 2 with four inch closed tear and 3 x 1/2" chip at lower right corner, small chip at upper left corner, plate 1 with three inch closed tear at lower right corner, both repaired with tape on back, not affecting images. Portfolio in overall good-, plates in good, albumen prints in very good condition. Portfolio protected by modern mylar. g- to vg. Item #45122
