The publication is a printed program for the services and dedication ceremony in honor of the completion of the new synagogue building of Congregation Emanu-El, of San Francisco, held on the weekend of April 16-18, 1926. The congregation, officially founded in 1851, is among the oldest in California, and one of the two oldest in the city of San Francisco.
The booklet lists the programs for 4 different events held between that Friday evening, and the Sunday evening including two prayer services, a religious school service and a "Fellowship Service". The final page lists a brief timeline of the congregation's history, the synagogue's board of directors and those involved in the design and construction of the building.
"The Heritage of Emanu-El". Laid in at the front cover is a 3 page folded program for a pageant performed in honor of the Diamond Jubilee (and 75th anniversary) of the founding of the congregation. The pageant was performed by the 'Temple players' under the direction of Fannie Goldsmith Engle, at the Fairmont Hotel on January 20, 1926. Interior lists the performers credits, and the acts of the performance.
