Striking photo-illustrated supplement of the fifth issue of "L'Ala d'Italia," an aviation magazine founded in 1919 and published in Italy throughout the fascist years.
Illustrated with no less than 58 photographs reproduced in photogravures, as well as 2 illustrations by Mario Sironi, and 1 map this supplement documents the active part taken by the Italian air force during the Catalonia offensive (12/23/1938 - 02/10/1939) which saw the fall of this Republican stronghold to the Nationalist forces of Franco, and sped up the defeat of the Loyalists.
Most of the photographs reproduced in this work are spectacular, such as the double-page aerial view of the harbor of Barcelona after a bombing by the fascist planes. The photographs, as well as the four articles featured in this supplement are unsigned.
