(4), viii, 507, 395pp. Original red half clothe over tan paper-covered boards with black lettering on labels of spine, housed in black pebbled cloth slipcases with gilt lettering on red and black labels of spines. Four pages of publisher's advertisements. Folding map frontispiece. engraved by William Kneass. "The painful task of editing the works of the late Bishop of Calcutta having devolved upon his widow, she is anxious to state, that her principal object in publishing the following Journal is, that its readers may be made acquainted with the nature and extent of the duties performed by the Bishop during the short time he presided over the Indian Church, as well as with the difficulties he encountered in the visitation of his extensive diocese." (Preface). Slipcases with some wear along edges and heavily rubbed. Some engravings in text. Binding with sunned cloth backs and rubbed boards, light wear along edges and front cover of volume one all but separated with one and a half inch chip at head of spine, and one inch of head of spine frayed and chipped at volume two. Private library plates on inside front covers and name inked below plate of volume one. Frontispiece map with some larger and smaller closed tears. Bottom and foredges untrimmed. Medium to heavy foxing of block throughout. Slipcases in overall fair+, bindings in poor, interior in good- condition. poor to g-. Item #44822
