Publisher's device on the title page. Among the most notable works of pioneering Christian Hebraicist Johannes Buxtorf II (1599 – 1664), Florilegium Hebraicum is a lexicon of famous Hebrew quotations, proverbs, and literary excerpts, translated into Latin. Here Buxtorf has compiled and translated hundreds of quotes, ranging from biblical passages to the writings of prominent rabbis and scholars of the middle ages, and arranged them alphabetically according to subject matter or theme. Includes a preface by Buxtorf with decorative woodblock headpiece, tailpiece and initial.

Text in Latin and Hebrew.

Binding with some chipping to the lower corners of the covers. Front cover with some stains, as well as faded period handwriting ink at the top. Spine sunned. Interior with some period notes in ink on a number of the endpapers. Damps stains and age toning to pages throughout. Page 226 with worming near the bottom of the gutter. Book block tight. Binding in good+, interior in very good- condition overall. g+ to vg-. Item #44738
