First American, from the manuscript of the second German edition, with additions. With one hundred and five illustrations on ninety plates, in chromolithography (Mezger lith.). All plates, with the exception of No. 90 (copied from Friedländer), and a few small squares in Plate 83, on examination of blood, are original drawings. Binding with light wear along edges, small chips at corners, head and tail of spine, and front joint of cover. Slight staining on front cover and light waves in small area at lower corner of back cover. Yellow endpapers at front and back missing. Very light water staining at top edge, bleeding into top of block w/o affecting images. Block lightly age-toned. Binding and interior in overall good, images on plates in very good to near fine condition. g to near fine. Item #44559
