Tanis in two parts: "The present work is half taken up with an account of the monuments of San, which had been nearly all discovered by Mariette, but of which no connected or detailed account has hitherto been written. Such a publication of the remains of the city which was only inferior to the other capitals–Thebes and Memphis–in the splendour of its sculptures, needs no comment. The other half of the account is occupied with the results of the various excavations which I carried on, and which yielded us much information on the age of many classes of object, besides furnishing the British Museum with several antiquities of types unknown before." I(Petrie). Illustrated with xviii plates of drawings, inscriptions and measured drawings, four of the plates with sepia-toned photographs printed on heavy glossy paper.
Nebesheh (AM) and Defenneh (Tahpanhes): "The work of this year has lain at places scarcely ever visited by any European, and at which no exploration had previously attempted. Naukratis was wholly unknown, even as an ancient site, until I first visited it two years ago., and its exploration only dates from last year. Nebesheh, on the opposite side of the Delta, was never seen by any archaeologist, until my flying visit when I was at Tanis; and Defenneh, though seen by one or two passing travellers, was untouched and unheeded until I settled there at the end of last March." (Petrie). Illustrated with fifty-one plates of measured drawings and plans, inscriptions and two plates with Naukratis and Defenneh curves of weights with an additional plate comparing the curves.
