Frontispiece lithograph. Title page printed in red and black with publisher's device. "This report does not pretend to be a finished work. It is simply a preliminary description of monuments and ancient remains which require to be thoroughly studied at a later date. The material was rapidly collected during the ordinary course of the writer's inspections, and has been put together without reference to more than the half-dozen books which happened to be accessible." (Author). Contains chapters on the history of Lower Nubia, the "Pan-Graves" and a catalog of some 100 pages describing the antiquities of Lower Nubia. Illustrated with two color lithographs, ninety-four plates with b/w offset reproductions of photographs depicting Nubian sites, drawings and inscription and one two color folding map of the Nile Valley from Aswan to Sudan Boundary. Binding with library barcode and sticker, slight wear along edges. Library bookplate on inside front cover, pocket and numeric stamp on inside back cover. Library stamps on verso of title page and top and bottom edges. Plates VII to XIV misbound, XIII and XIV upside down, however, all plates present. Binding and interior in overall very good, plates in fine condition. vg to fine. Item #44444
