David Benguiat established himself in London in 1878 and from that time on he has been consulted by the leading museums of England and the continent. Drawn to collect English embroideries he acquired many Tudor, Jacobean and Georgian specimen, Genoese velvets, Jardinière velvet panels, gold needle-painted Renaissance Italian and Spanish ecclesiastical vestments, banners, covers and palace baldachinos, some of the highlights of this extraordinary collection of altogether 650 lots.
