The book is a "revised" edition of the illustrated catalogue of medical and surgical equipment manufactured by English company Arnold & Sons. The first three pages each contain a full page engraving, one depicting various stages of the manufacturing process, one showing the exterior of the factory, and a third showing the interior. The book is profusely illustrated throughout with an astounding total of 3,230 figures and diagrams printed lithographically in b/w, which depict all manner of medical equipment and surgical instruments, pertaining to nearly every medical field, including artificial limbs. The front of the catalog contains an extensive 47-page index of products offered. The award-winning company which was originally founded in 1819, was a leading manufacturer in the medical field in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
