The work is a detailed and comprehensive catalog of 202 manuscripts held in the McClean Collection at the Fitzwilliam Museum of art and antiquities at Cambridge University. Included in the collection are illuminated manuscripts as well as biblical manuscripts, oriental manuscripts, liturgical books, as well as works in the categories of theology, law, and secular literature, most dating from the 9th-14th centuries. Before the main descriptive part of the text is a short list of the manuscripts, each with their sources and dates. The manuscript descriptions are followed by an appendix and index section, and then a final section containing 108 b/w photographic plates, with the images reproduced in photogravure. Each of the plates is captioned underneath, referring to its number in the catalog. Binding with some minor rubbing and bumping to extremities. Residue from a previous library sticker at the tail of the spine. Library ink stamps at the top and bottom of the book block. Binding with starting on a number of pages. Library bookplate and index card pasted on the interior covers as well. Name of the previous owner in pen on the front free endpaper. Binding and interior in very good- condition overall. vg-.
