Catalog V of the 1941 auction of the Petschek Estate by Leo Spik's auction house "Union." The auction was held, on the order of a public authority, in the exhibition halls Berlin-Dahlem.

The auction catalog contains paintings, prints, tapestries, rugs, and antique furniture well as arts an crafts, silver ware, lighting on special lists, not included in this catalog, following the main auction. The catalog is illustrated with 24 plates on high quality paper depicting auction items in photogravure, often with two or four items displayed on one page. Laid in a printed order form and a printed list with estimated prices. The collection offered at this auction contains typical items confiscated from Jewish homes. The catalog contains realized prices penciled into the margins.

Julius Petschek was an industrialist of Jewish origin in Czechoslovakia. His company controlled almost 50% of the European brown coal mining industry. He is also known for commissioning the building of the neoclassicist so-called Petschek Palace in Prague that was built between 1923 and 1929 by the architect Max Spielmann for the Bank House Petschek & Co. The "Palace" was built of reinforced concrete, was fully air-conditioned and featured a tube-post, a phone switchboard, printing office, a paternoster lift and massive vaults in the sub level floor.

After the occupation by the Nazis the "Palace" became headquarters of the Gestapo for the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia with interrogations and torturing of members of the Czech resistance taking place. Today it is the residence for pat of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, It became a national cultural monument in 1989.
