(6) 500 (6)pp. Original cream cloth with intricate Art Nouveau motif in color on cover and brown, gilt rimmed lettering on cover and spine, housed in an illustrated clam shell box with red and black cloth frame and marbled side boards. Illustrated publisher's advertisement on printed sheet printed in blue pasted to back cover as issued.

Beautiful Art Nouveau design of binding on front, back, including intricate vignette and border, and spine by Alphonse Mucha, bound by Joseph Pfeiffer in Prag. Decorative endpapers. Title page with publisher's device printed in red and black. Contains facsimile signature of publisher under poem printed on both sides of leaf following title page. Laid in an illustrated gray dustjacket printed in blue. Dustjacket and top of box with same illustration, back cover of dustjacket and box with variant advertisements of publisher. The dustjacket retaining front and back cover, lacking spine, but expertly mended. Box and dustjacket have not been bibliographically recorded (see Parr & Badger II, 227).

Elaborate undertaking presenting 500 views from Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and Slovakia showing landscapes, architecture and idyllic scenes in full page b/w photographs by J. Vilim, J. Eckert, M. Adler, A. Lehmann, J. Hahn, J. F. Langhans, Frantisek Kratky, J. Polnicky, J. Pribransky, B.V. Liska, among many others, with extended captions by various authors. Contains list of authors and motifs at rear and four pages of publisher's advertisement for the forthcomming "Narodni Album," including sepia-toned reproductions of portraits.

Text in Czech. Box with light wear along edges and very light foxing of past-downs and inside panels, same with covers of album. Page 333 with small chip at lower left corner. Dustjacket with few small tears and chips, front flap separated and professionally mended. Some professional mending. Stamp of previous owner on title page. Box in overall good+, dustjacket in good, covers in good+, interior in very good condition. g to vg. Item #43712
