Germany: NP, ca. 1900/1910. Hardcover. Large quartos. 12.5x9" and 12x9". Two albums in leatherette bindings with gilt ruling on the spines. One in brown with gilt-stamped designs on the cover, and other other in textured green boards with a gilt-stamped design and ruling on the front cover. The unique albums contain a beautiful collection of more than 150 highly detailed and ornate designs for various types custom made jewelry. Each is hand-painted on small cutout pieces of either heavy mylar, plastic, cardstock, or vellum, mostly transparent, with each resting in a clear plastic sleeve. The designs include necklaces, armbands, bracelets, rings, pendants, brooches, earrings and wrist watches, composed of a wide range of various precious metals and gem stones, including diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies. Each type of jewelry is a separate section, each with a paper label along the side of the album. The jeweler is unknown but the jewelry seems to have been made for wealthy members of the Kaiser Wilhelm-era German society. Also includes one original photograph (of a Cartier tiara) and a chromolithograph, laid in at the back of one of the albums. Many of designs are protected by tissue guards.
Bindings with some light rubbing/bumping to the corners of the volume in brown. A few or the designs inside are torn and/or chipped along the edges or corners, with one piece in the green volume, being torn into a few pieces.
