Originally published in 1928, Gustave Jéquier's "La Pyramide d'Oudjebten" is a striking monograph on Queen Wedjebten's pyramid (Sixth Dynasty).

Excavated by the French Egyptologist Gustave Jéquier in the 1925-26 season at Saqqara, the edifice includes most of the elements of a major pyramid complex: the pyramid itself, a funerary chapel with the offering table and false door, tombs of the queen's retainers, and an enclosure wall.

This work is splendidly illustrated throughout with 37 in-text figs and 14 leaves of illustrated and photo-illustrated plates.

Minor shelf wear. Tip of upper front corner slightly bumped, thus slightly affecting pages throughout. Previous owner's Ex-libris on inside of front cover (J. Bisno). Text in French. Wrappers in overall good+, interior in very good condition. g+ to vg. Item #43370

About the author: Gustave Jéquier (1868-1946) was an Egyptologist and one of the first archaeologists to excavate ancient Persian cities in what is now Iran. He was a member of Jacques de Morgan's 1901 Susa expedition, which led to the discovery of the famous Code of Hammurabi, now on display in the Louvre. Jéquier began his career under the guidance of the Egyptologists Gaston Maspero and Jacques de Morgan, and specialized in the Predynastic Period. He participated in major excavations sponsored by the Supreme Council of Antiquities. He excavated sites at Saqqara, such as the pyramid of Ibi and the pyramid of Khendjer, at Dahshur, Lisht, and Mazghuna. His work on the Pyramid Texts was a significant step forward in the understanding of these religious works. (From Wikipedia).
