Gilt-stamped motif surrounded by black ruling and tooling on the front cover. Gilt lettering on the spine. The book is a collection of 13 articles and essays originally published in the London newspaper "The Saturday Review". The writings range in content from social topics and education, to literature and philosophy. The authors of the writings are not named. The back of the book contains a large 60 plus page section of advertisements for other titles published by Blackwood, each containing a short summary of the contents. Binding with spine slightly coked. Some light scratches and smudging to the boards. Rubbing to extremities and the hinges of the spine. Spotting to the right edge of the book block. Interior with some sporadic light foxing throughout, and starting at a number of pages. Binding in good-,interior in good condition overall. g- to g. Item #43363

* "The Saturday Review of politics, literature, science, and art", was a weekly London newspaper which ran from 1855-1938. Over the years the publication contained articles and essays from of a number of acclaimed and famous contributors including H. G. Wells, George Bernard Shaw and Oscar Wilde.
