The book includes a total of 31 whimsical illustrations by the author, including 12 color plates (including the frontispiece) and the rest in-text in b/w. Includes an index of all illustrations following the table of contents. Binding with some scratches and abrasions to the covers and spine. Back cover with a small water stain. Light bumping and rubbing to extremities. Interior with some sporadic minor smudges. Harold Gaze (1884-1963) was a New Zealnd-born children's author, illustrator and artist. He was among the most popular children's fantasy authors (fairy-tales) in Australia, and lived a large portion of his life in Southern California.
