Pessach-Haggadah/ Hagadah shel Pesah (The Geismar Hagadah)

Berlin: B. Kahan, 1928. Hardcover. Octavo. 90 pp. Illustrated orange cloth with black lettering on the cover. This is the German-language printing of the famed Haggadah designed, arranged and illustrated by Otto Geismar. The hagadah is unique in its minimal visual aesthetic with line drawings and stick figures, dipicting scenes from the Passover story. This inscription dates from one of the most desperate and tense periods for German Jews, in Nazi German. Text in German and Hebrew opposite each other. Binding with light rubbing, and/or chipping to extremities. Light smudges and scratching to the covers. Interior with some sporadic light foxing and water stains throughout. Light spotting to the edges of the book block. Illustrations mostly unaffected. Book block tight. Protected by modern mylar. Binding in very good-, interior in good+ overall. g+ to vg-. Item #43010
