Rebound in three-quarter morocco over marbled boards with gilt ruling, gilt lettering on black leather label of spine; raised bands. Marbles edges. Facsimile frontispiece engraving, facsimile Ricraft title page of Survey of England's Champions, 1647, Leycester title page, 1649, with 21 additional full page engravings of English commanders "who like Starres in their courses have fought against the Romish Sicera, or the great Scarlet Whore, with whom the Kings of the Earth have committed Fornication. Rev. 17.2." Includes "the distinct appellations, proper motions, and propitious influences of these memorable Starres, Chronologically related from Anno. 1641. to Anno. 1648." (Both quotes from title page). Facsimile of the First Edition. Paper fresh with usual foxing of first title page.

Falsely stated to have been collected by John Leycester on title page. Leycester supplied "An addition of the late proceedings of the army to this present (pp. 167-174) DNB, volume 48, pp. 268-269. Full page engravings of Robert Earl of Essex, Robert Earl of Warwick, Edward Earl of Manchester, Earl of Calender, Basil Feilding Earl of Denbigh, Ferdinand Lord Fairfax, Robert Lord Brooke, and 14 others. Light wear along edges of binding and spine, light scuffing of leather. Moderate foxing of first four leaves. Some offsetting of plates to opposite and preceding plates. Binding in overall good+, interior in very good+ condition. g+ to vg+. Item #42664
