The second title is a full run of the "The Seer" periodical publication, and the third part is an untitled collection of eight additional pamphlets on various subjects in the gospels. Includes an engraved portrait of Orson Pratt on the frontispiece, dated 1849.

"A Series of Pamphlets" contains 16 individual pamphlets, collected and bound together. It is divided according to the table of contents at the front into three series. The "first series" consists of 7 parts published between, 1848-1849. The "Second Series" contains six parts published 1850-1851, and the "third series" consists of three parts originally published 1849-1851. All of these were published in Liverpool, during Pratt's mission in Britain. Various paginations.

"The Seer" was an official periodical of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, published monthly between January 1853 and August 1854. Some sources claim that the publication ceased in June of 1854, but it in fact continued until August, ending after a total of 20 issues (in "two volumes"). The periodical started in 1853, after Orson Pratt was sent by Brigham Young to Washington D.C., were he was to write and publish a magazine defending the practices of Mormonism to the general public, and more specifically addressing the issue of plural marriage. Includes some messages from Brigham Young himself. These issues were mostly written and edited, then reprinted in Liverpool and London. A total of 320pp. of continuous pagination.

The final group of eight pamphlets (128pp. total), were originally published 1856-1857, and were brought together in a single volume, sometime shortly thereafter. The work has continuous pagination, and list each pamphlet tile as a different chapter. The original title page to this collection is missing. The titles each discuss various topics from the gospels, with the titles as follows:
1. The True Faith
2. True Repentance
3. Water Baptism
4. The Holy Spirit
5. Spiritual Gifts
6. Necessity for Miracles
7. Universal Apostacy; or, The Seventeen Centuries of Darkness
