The volume contains 3 titles bound in 1. The first title contains 16 pamphlets that were originally published separately between 1848-1951, bound together. The volume is missing the two "discussions" mentioned in the table of contents at the front. The second title is a full run of the "The Seer" periodical publication, and the third part is an untitled collection of eight additional pamphlets on various subjects in the gospels. Includes an engraved portrait of Orson Pratt on the frontispiece, dated 1849.
"A Series of Pamphlets" contains 16 individual pamphlets, collected and bound together. It is divided according to the table of contents at the front into three series. The "first series" consists of 7 parts published between, 1848-1849. The "Second Series" contains six parts published 1850-1851, and the "third series" consists of three parts originally published 1849-1851. All of these were published in Liverpool, during Pratt's mission in Britain. Various paginations.
"The Seer" was an official periodical of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, published monthly between January 1853 and August 1854. Some sources claim that the publication ceased in June of 1854, but it in fact continued until August, ending after a total of 20 issues (in "two volumes"). The periodical started in 1853, after Orson Pratt was sent by Brigham Young to Washington D.C., were he was to write and publish a magazine defending the practices of Mormonism to the general public, and more specifically addressing the issue of plural marriage. Includes some messages from Brigham Young himself. These issues were mostly written and edited, then reprinted in Liverpool and London. A total of 320pp. of continuous pagination.
The final group of eight pamphlets (128pp. total), were originally published 1856-1857, and were brought together in a single volume, sometime shortly thereafter. The work has continuous pagination, and list each pamphlet tile as a different chapter. The original title page to this collection is missing. The titles each discuss various topics from the gospels, with the titles as follows:

4. The Holy Spirit
5. Spiritual Gifts
6. Necessity for Miracles
7. Universal Apostacy; or, The Seventeen Centuries of Darkness

Binding with the backstrip at the head of the spine missing, and additional splitting along the front hinge of the spine. Some bumping and rubbing to corners and along edges. Library stickers at the top left corner of the front cover and at the tail of the spine. Interior with a library ink stamp at the interior front cover. Starting at the gutter of the interior front cover, and at p.126 of the final title. Foxing to the initial pages, including the frontispiece, the title page and the table of contents. Sporadic light foxing throughout. Ink smudges on on the final page of "The Seer" (p.320). Book block tight overall. Binding in fair, interior in fair to very good+ condition overall. fair to vg+. Orson Pratt, Sr. (September 19, 1811 – October 3, 1881) was an American mathematician and religious leader who was an original member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles of the Church of the Latter Day Saints. He became a member of the Quorum of the Twelve of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and was a leading Mormon theologian and writer until his death.
