Pages uncut, with top edge gilt. Illustrated endpapers. This is a second printing of the first edition, published the same month as the first printing. "Reprinted July 1903" as stated. Illustrated color plates throughout by Philip R. Goodwin and Charles Livingston Bull, with a cover by Charles Edward Hooper. Illustrated frontispiece with tissue guard still present. First published in serialized form in the summer 1903, in "The Saturday Evening Post", the book tells the story of the Buck, a dog who has to devolve and rely on his feral instincts to survive in the harsh environment of the Klondike Goldrush. The book became a bestseller and established jack London as among the most famous American writers of his day. Binding with rubbing to the corners, along edges and to the hinges of the spine. Small closed tears to the head and tail of the spine. Light smudging to boards. Interior with starting at the gutters of the interior front and back covers, as well as the verso of the half-title, p.114, and 152. p.172 loosening. Light creasing, some light water staining and/or minor chipping to corners and along the edges of some pages. Pages with some age toning, including offsetting to the title page from the tissue guard. A postage stamp with the previous owners name written in ink has been pasted on at the illustrated front endpaper. Book block tight overall. Binding in good, interior in good+ condition overall. g to g+. Item #42527
