Original embossed white wrappers housed in an illustrated full tan cloth chemise, with black lettering to spine and front cover. Chemise housed in its matching tan cloth slipcase. Front free endpaper splendidly illustrated with a 15 x 11" original drawing by the artist, and inscribed to: "Pour Jerry Gallant, en hommage. Alechinsky. Le 9/1/1973 (January 9, 1973)."

This stunning portfolio contains 17 tissue-guarded etching and aquatint illustrations for poems and texts by Louis Scutenaire, of which eleven are signed, and six are monogrammed in pencil by Pierre Alechinsky*.

The size of the illustrations varies from 1 1/4 x 1" to 10 3/4 x 7".

One of XXV (25) copies on wove paper by Arches (with watermark) reserved for the collaborators, of which this is No. V (5).

Some age-toning and sporadic soiling to slipcase. Chemise age-toned along spine. Text in French. Slipcase in overall good- to good, chemise in good+, wrappers and interior in very good condition. vg. Item #42464

* Pierre Alechinsky (born in 1927) is a Belgian artist. He has lived and worked in France since 1951. His work is related to tachisme, abstract expressionism, and lyrical abstraction.
