Cambridge: B. Bridges, 1830. First edition. Hardcover. 12mo. 83pp. Contemporary 3/4 tan calf over marbled paper boards. Gilt ruling on covers, with gilt lettering and tooling on spine. The publication is a collection of sonnets and other miscellaneous works by Charles Tennyson (Charles Tennyson Turner), the elder brother of Alfred Lord Tennyson. The two had previously published the work "Poems by Two Brothers" together in 1829, with this being Charles' first solo publication after each of the brothers embarked on their individual literary careers. In 1833 Charles was ordained an Anglican priest, but continued to write poetry throughout his life. Binding with some rubbing and light bumping to corners, along edges and to hinges of spine. Interior with an inscription in ink to the previous owner at the front free endpaper. Minor sporadic spotting to a few pages. Binding in overall good, interior in very good+ condition overall. g to vg+. Item #42093
