Sopron: Kende Márta, ca. 1945. First edition. Softcover. Octavo. 10 leaves. Original photo-illustrated, stapled wraps with red backdrop and white lettering on cover. Pamphlet about the Hungarian Pioneer Movement in Hungarian, Russian, French, and English. The movement was established by the Hungarian Communist Party for primary school children between the age of 6 and 14. The goal was to rear an educated, moral, socialist youth true to its country and its people.

At the time of publications the membership amounted to about 700,00 children guided by teachers with chief support of the Hungarian Working People's Party and it s wise leader Matyas Rakosi, General Secretary of the Hungarian Communist Party and acting prime minister for a few days in 1946 and 1947. He was removed from his position as General Secretary in 1956 by the Soviet Politburo under Nikita Kkrushchev.

The pamphlet is profusely illustrated with sepia toned photographs depicting the desolate conditions from 1920–1945, Hungary under the reign of Miklos Horthy, followed y photographs of Stalin, Russian military, and photographs of youth cadres at various activities as well as recreational venues. The photographs are accompanied by short descriptive texts in four languages. Scuffing to front cover, with tiny closed tears along margin. Wraps held together by one staple. Front cover with nearly imperceptible staining due to water exposure, clearly visible on inside front cover and back cover. Some age toning. Wraps in overall good-, interior in good+ condition. g- to g+. Item #41647
