In this second to last of Busch's picture stories Busch the central theme is artistic failure. Busch, though very popular as a caricaturist and poet, was unable to estalbish himself as a serious artist and poet. The story starts with a rhyme "wie wohl ist dem, der dann und wann, Sich etwas Schönes dichten kann (How well are those who once a while, Can write a beautiful poem with style). Publisher's ads on back covers. Text in German, Gothic script. Wraps with some wear along edges and spine, chips tears and light creasing. Very light, sporadic foxing. Pages 51-62 loose but present.
