Published during the Japanese occupation of Korea, the work is vol.12 of 15 volume series of photographic surveys of historic and ancient Korean structures. This volume covers Buddhist temples (predominantly wooden) in the Gyeonggi, Gangwon, South Hamgyeong, North & South Pyongan, Hwanghae, North & South Chungcheong, and North Gyeongsang Provinces of Korea. The book contains a total of 135 plates (from #1643-1778 in the series) of b/w collotyes (taken by members of the research committee) as well as a few architectural plans and measured drawings, providing detailed views the decorations, paintings, ornaments, structures, and overall architectural layouts of the temples. Clamshell box with minor rubbing and smudges to extremities. Library sticker at the tail of the spine. Binding with some smudges, scratches, abrasions and some light foxing to the covers. Corners rubbed. Cracking, tearing and some fraying along the spine. Bottom string-tie is loosening slightly at the front cover. Interior with library stickers, labels and/or stamps at the endpapers and interior covers. All plates clean. Binding starting to loosen.
