The publication is a later edition of the acclaimed collection of color woodblock prints reproducing original watercolor paintings from a variety of famous Chinese artists of the time, published by the historic Rong Bao Zhai publishing house. This edition features a total of 80 prints, including 32 works from Qi Baishi, as well as Wang Shizi. The subjects include mostly "bird-and-flower paintings" as well as some figurative works and landscapes. Many of the works are accompanied by beautifully written poems or descriptive titles in calligraphy. The works are all printed on special calligraphy paper for which Rong Bao Zhai is particularly known, which reproduces very vibrant colors. Each volume contains an index of artwork at the front.

* 榮宝齋 (Rong Bao Zhai) is a historic and acclaimed publisher, stationary, calligraphy and painting shop located in Beijing. The company which was formed in 1672, and is still in business, is counted among the oldest still in operation. Their watercolor block printing technique is considered one of the best in China.
