After sketching the great topographic features of Egypt, and spurning the present beneath his feet, the author takes the reader back into the earliest ages, and describes the whole life of the ancient Egyptians - their temples, homes, industries, social customs, religion, history, and the residence of the Israelites in Egypt, and their departure from it.
This work is lavishly illustrated throughout with over 200 in-text and full-page engravings.
