The work is an exceptionally produced monograph on the paintings of Kaii Higashiyama, profusely illustrated throughout with color reproductions of his landscape paintings. The book includes an essay on his work by Sumio Kuwahara, b&w photos of the artist at work, as well a biography and timeline at the end of the book. Text in Japanese. Slipcase with obi (belly band) half torn and crumpled, and some light rubbing to the corners of the box. Dust jacket slightly creased along top edge. Binding with some light smudging to front and back covers. Interior with some light staining and smudging to a few pages.
