This third special issue of the German architecture magazine "Berliner Architekturwelt" is entirely dedicated to the work of German painter Melchior Lechter (1865-1937), best known for his decorative designs of books, Ex-libris, calendars, catalogs, posters, and stained glass windows.

The magazine is lavishly illustrated with numerous in-text and full-page b/w illustrations and photographic reproductions showing some of Melchior Lechter's best examples of Jugendstill art and design, such as:

- A series of striking glass painting for the Cologne Kunstgewerbemuseum, known as the Pallenberg Saal (1900-1902).

- Book decorations for Maurice Maeterlinck's "Der Schatz der Armen." (1898).

- Book decorations for Stefan George's "Das Jahr der Seele." (1897).

- Book decorations for Stefan George's "Der Teppich des Lebens." (1899).

Includes numerous b/w and duo-tone photographic reproductions of gothic furniture and lighting, stained glass windows, watercolors and illustrations in pencil by Melchior Lechter.

Also included are the following hors-text plates:

- Tissue-guarded color frontispiece depicting Lechter's impressive stained glass painting "Die Weihe am mystischen Quell."
