Rare portfolio of twelve photogravure plates of nude photography by Jozsef Pecsi (1889-1956), an influential Hungarian photographer whose Budapest studio was one of the city's busiest in the 1910s and 1920s. His pictorialist portraits, landscapes, advertisements (that amalgamated the elements of new objectivity, still lifes, avant-garde nudes), and his new approach to portraits of people have all proved to be enduring and in many cases have inspired numerous followers.

In 1923 Pécsi published this portfolio of twelve photogravures of the nude, in which his use of furniture and other props gives his photographs a theatrical mood.

Each photogravure measures 5 7/8 x 4 1/4" and is tipped in onto a tan cardstock measuring 9 1/4 x 7 3/8"
