Aktion VVN: Berliner Vereinigung der Verfolgten des Naziregimes. Sonderausgabe

Berlin: Berliner Vereinigung der Verfolgten des Naziregimes, 1948. First edition. Softcover. Quarto. 11 (1)pp. Original newsprint. Publication dedicated to educate about resistance and to fight fascism internationally. It was published monthly from July 1948 to March 1949, with the exception of February 1949. The special September issue starts with a welcoming address to people everywhere who are persecuted by fascists (Unser Gruß den vom Faschismus Verfolgten aus allen Ländern. Unser Gedenken den toten Kameraden). This is followed by a call to demonstrate to commemorate the victims of fascism on September 12th as well as brief, separate welcomes to comrades in Spain, Austria, Czechoslovakia, the peoples of southeast Europe, Denmark and Norway, the Soviet Union, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg, France, Poland and Israel. Speaking at the event are: Heinz Galinski (opening), Ottomar Geschke, Pfarrer Schmitz, and Maurice Lampe, president of the FIAPP.

Includes contributions on the German youth and its relationship to the resistance movement during the "Third Reich," references to Theresienstadt, a long article on Ravensbrück, various appeals to humanity not to show mercy with the murderers, including Thomas Mann and Romain Rolland, and a contribution by Heinz Galinski on the bravery of women. Galinski was president of the "Central Council of Jews in German" from 1988 until his death in 1992 and, unlike many other Holocaust survivors, remained in Germany after the end of WW II. The publication includes search requests for missing people and a calendar for various events in all parts of Berlin. Text in German. Horizontal fold at center with light fraying along edges and age-toned. Overall in very good condition. vg. Item #40805
