Inge Vahle: Gehänge und Gespanne

Mannheim: Kunsthalle Mannheim, 1971. First edition. Softcover. Octavo. Unpaginated, 30pp. Original illustrated wraps with red lettering on cover. Introduction by Heinz Fuchs on the century of modern art with its various tendencies to explore material per se making the case for Vahle's decent into the field of art rather than craft. Fuchs warns not to fill Vahle's works hastily with symbolism that doesn't exist, or interpretations providing trendy attributes to her work but see her experiments for what they are: intuitive findings to provoke experimentation as a serious task. Illustrated with intricate b/w photographs of Vahle's work, one of them a fold out. Includes a portrait of Inge Vahle on transparent wax paper, list of exhibitions and works as well as a list of drawings and collages from 1965-1971. Text in German. Wraps with light wear along edges and some sunning. Wax paper page starting to come loose at bottom. Wraps in overall good+, interior in very good condition. g+ to vg. Item #40683
