Prospectus for color chart system Chroma Cosmos 5000 with typed response on institute letterhead by Chairman of Board of Director's at Japan Color Research Institute, Takshi Hosono, to a handwritten inquiry regarding the color chart system Chroma Cosmos 5000 and typed order information for Chroma Cosmos 5000 glued to the left margin of mimeographed two page introduction. This is followed by a 17 page description of the color chart system, including bibliography, and three pages with 5 figures relating to the system.
The system is described as a comprehensive study on color standardization covering 5,000 colors. "The chroma arrangement is the same as that which appears at the cylindrical section of a three-dimensional color solid. Its beauty is thus the harmony of uniform chroma, but strangely enough, this form was rarely seen in the traditional color chart. There are specific reasons for adopting this particular arrangement here, but our main intention was that we wanted to make it easy for people to use it as a guide to color harmony planning as well as a system for indicating color names, and for specifying a color code... In the process of preparing this study, we simulated various cases of color utilization and studied the required methods, thereby demonstrating specific ways in which this Chroma Cosmos 5000 could be used in meeting all sorts of color problems." (Hosono introduction). Light ruffling of letter and order pages from glue applied to fasten to prospectus. Else wraps and interior in overall very good+ condition. vg+. Item #40495
