Hoellenriegel was a special correspondent for the "Berliner Tagesblatt" in Hollywood. Changes in the movie business from the silent movies to the talkies were apparent at the time, nevertheless "City Lights" was Chaplin's greatest success to date when it was released in 1931, despite the fact it being a silent movie. Hoellenriegel engages the reader with a thorough review of the movie including a chapter that discusses the reasoning behind the decision to make "City Light" a silent movie. Illustrated with many in-text b/w reproductions of personal photographs as well as movie stills. Text in German. Some where along edges of wraps and some staining to back cover.
