This first American edition is an appreciation of the dynamic and important dancer and choreographer Ted Shawn (1891-1972) and a view of influences on modern avant-garde dance in the early 1930's. Illustrated with an abstract color frontispiece of Shawn by the author and several full-page annotated b/w photographic reproductions by various photographers (Binder, Mortensen, Muray, Hiller and others). Also entails a list of original ballets and a descriptive catalogue as an appendix.
