Vols 1-4 in dark green cloth with gold lettering on spine (1939-1942), vols 5-42 in black cloth with gold lettering on spine (1943-1980), all retaining the original wrappers, and vols 43-45 in the original blue printed wraps (1981-1983).

The tri-annual publication, a "Journal Devoted to the Contemporary and Historical Aspects of Jewish Life" as it says in the subtitle, includes scholarly articles on a wide range of subjects, including Jewish history, philosophy, culture, literature and sociology, as well as book reviews. The issues of the period, including anti-Semitism, WWII, The Holocaust, Zionism, and Arab-Jewish Relations are discussed. Contains articles written by Hannah Arendt, Salo Baron, Saul Alinsky, and Martin Buber among many others.

Stamp of the previous owner, Salo Wittmayer Baron, on some front free endpapers. Very light wear to edges of bindings, with some scuffing, bumps and scratches to spines. Minor water stains to top edge of a few volumes. Bindings in overall good to very good condition, interiors in very good condition. g to vg. Item #40255
