Original plain yellow dustjacket over quarter vellum with blue paper-covered boards and pasted-down cover label with black lettering, housed in plain cardboard slipcase with title label on front. Sixteenth Berthold Print. Frontispiece portrait of author with facsimile signature. Publisher's device on title page. Dedication page reads: "Zur Erinnerung an den verdienstvollen Förderer des hebräischen Schriftwesens und Schöpfer der Frank-Rühl-Hebräisch Herrn Rafael Frank." Published in memory of Rafael (Raphael) Frank (1867-1920), the designer of 'Frank Ruehl' (Rühl), the ubiquitous Hebrew text font style. The essay "Über hebräische Typen und Schriftarten" first appeared in 1911 in the Magazin "Archiv für Buchgewerbe" and was so popular that all issues were sold out in a short period of time. This edition also includes an article "Die Renaissance des Hebräischen" by Dr. Jacques Adler, as well as a short biography of Rafael Frank's life by his widow. Text in German and Hebrew. Slipcase sunned along edges, loose at top and bottom with closed tears at top of spine but complete. DJ with light wear along edges and sunned at spine, binding with minor staining. Block with light age-toning along edges and starting at page 25. Slipcase in good-, binding in good+, interior in very good condition. Scarce. g- to vg. Item #40070
