Leningrad: OGIZ, 1938. First edition. Softcover. Octavo. Unpaginated, 14pp. Original illustrated, stapled tan wraps with black and red lettering on cover, protected in modern mylar. Illustrated inside covers. One of the children's books during the 1920s and 1930s that represents a trend in Soviet history portraying women doing work that was newly available to women. Mamin Most depicts women in a variety of jobs, e.g. factory work, architectural planning, house painting and construction work. An unusual booklet even under these circumstances since most other books still portray men as doing the heavy work, e.g. a dress factory where all the sewing related jobs are done by women while the all the other jobs are done by men. The booklet features beautiful full page color illustrations by T. Zvonareva. Text in Russian. Wraps with light wear along edges, small chips and tears. Three inch tear at tail of spine. Small red stamp "Printed in Soviet Union" in left lower corner of front cover, handwritten price change in upper right corner. Wraps and block age-toned.
