Vladimir Vasilyevich Lebedev (1891-1967) is know for his exceptional illustrations of the poems of Samuil Marshak, e.g. Circus, Ice Cream, etc. Lebedev worked for the children's magazines "Jackdaw," "Blue Journal," "Everyone's Journal," and "Argus." Lebedev was a Soviet painter and graphic artist considered the "King of the Children's Book" in the 1920s. He also designed propaganda posters for the Russian Telegraph Agency (ROSTA), the Department of Agitation (Agitprop) and was friends with Vladimir Tatlin, Kazimir Malevich and Vladimir Mayakovsky.
