Mein Vorurteil gegen diese Zeit. 100 Holzschnitte

Berlin: Büchergilde Gutenberg, 1932. First edition. Hardcover. Quarto. 207 (3)pp. Original gray, textured cloth with black stamped lettering on cover and spine. Olive endpapers. 100 agitating woodcuts of the Austrian book illustrator Karl Rössing. In his introduction Rössing notes that this book is by no means one of those typical satirical excursion with the petty bourgeois as a target in mind but rather a critical discourse about the capitalistic, profit-oriented cultural industry and its main protagonists. Rössing's stance and view maybe best described with the Kierkegard quote he used leading into this scathing collection of woodcuts: "A single human being cannot help his or her time, let alone save it, only express that it is perishing." Text in German. Binding and interior in overall very good condition. vg. Item #39367
