Are We Really All Speaking the Language of Israel? An Exploration of the Labyrinth of Languages

NP: Self-published, 1949. Original document. Softcover. Folio. 98 pp. Spiral bound brown stiff wraps with mimeographed book block. The author Ida Ibekken, a student of the Hebrew language, approaches the Hebrew language from a rare perspective. Starting off with names of deities and finding equivalents in Hebrew words, such as: Hebrew: "Adon" - meaning lord, master, which is found in "Wodin", meaning "the mighty", she finds equivalents in nearly all areas of language. e.g. Hebrew: pered - meaning mule, which equals the Low-German: perd and the Dutch: pard. Text in English and Hebrew in transliteration and handwritten Hebrew characters. Binding with some wear and fraying along edges. Age-toning and some foxing throughout block. Binding and interior in overall good to good+ condition. g to g+. Item #39317
