Original stapled tracing paper in illustrated wrappers. Pasted on inside of front cover is a hand-signed typed document, dated 21 March 1946 stating: "I certify that I have examined the "History of the Work of the Depot Engineer Division, 55 Quartermaster Base Depot," and find that it contains no secret, confidential, or other classified information. This rare work explores a full year of numerous achievements realized by the US Army 55th QM Base Depot in Reims, France, since the appointment of Captain John L. Parsons as officer in charge of the Utilities Section (8 February, 1945). The text of this history is supplemented with 55 sketches, charts, tables, and rosters selected to illustrate the magnitude of the work done by Parsons, his assistants, and 140 German prisoners of war. The Daily Activities Report for 8 February 1946 consisting of 5 leaves, is included as an appendix. The numerous architectural drawings, perspective views, sketches, and plans depict storage areas and display rooms; original offices and shops; a plan of the installations of the 55th QM Base Depot; the pigeon yard; the fuel dump; improvised issue sheds; refrigerator - cold storage area; improvised storage shed with canvas cover; the convoy refueling point; garages and grease ramp, etc.. Includes, the organizational charts of the storage and distribution division throughout the year, and the labor utilization chart. The last five leaves are rosters listing all the officers and enlisted men of the Depot Engineer Division, as well as all the POW officers and important PW/EM who have been working with the 55th QM Base Depot.
