Designed by Edward Neville Stent and Fred Juengling the beautifully designed title page and the editorial by James Sutton is a tribute and commemoration of the first Centennial of the USA. As one of the leading American art journals The Aldine contains articles covering the art scenes of America and Europe and if profusely illustrated with engravings after works by American, e.g. T. Moran, and European artists, e. g. Gustave Dore, many of them full page. Binding with wear along edges, heavy scuffing of leather at corners and joints, some small chips. Circular cup size stain on front cover and rubbed. Light to moderate age-toning of block. Tissue guards with foxing not affecting images.
