"I'll Get the Kaiser's Goat" Original hand-colored photogravure portrait of a WWI American soldier

Realized in the fashion of a real photographic studio portrait, this striking hand-colored photogravure depicts an American serviceman in uniform posing with a sign that says: "I'll Get the Kaiser's Goat." The photogravure was made shortly after April 6, 1917 when the U.S. Senate voted 82 to 6 to declare war against Germany, the U.S. House of Representatives endorsed the declaration by a vote of 373 to 50, thus formally allowing America to enter World War I.
This original glass-protected work rests in a splendid period oval-shaped gold wood frame decorated with embossed American flags and armorial on top and two entangled fleur-de-lys at bottom. Frame size: 25" x 19". Photogravure size: about 20" x 14".
